In preparation for the 1000th founding anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi, this online contest in six languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese, Esperanto and Vietnamese is jointly held by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations and the National Office of Steering Committee for the 1000th founding anniversary of Thang Long under the auspices of the Hanoi People’s Committee. The contest is designed for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese.
The organizing Committee unanimously sets forth the regulations as follows:
1. Topic:
“Towards the 1000th Founding Anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi” (its 07 questions attached)
2. Participation:
Foreigners all over the world and overseas Vietnamese who know one of six following languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese, Esperanto and Vietnamese.
3. General regulations:
- Each entrant will complete a multiple choice test with 06 questions and give his/her opinions to promote Hanoi’s values as a thousand-year-old Capital for 7th question (less than 1000 words).
- An entry must include personal details of the participant: full name, age, occupation, residence address, phone number, fax number and e-mail address. It’s sent to the Organizing Committee by mail or e-mail.
- Contest results will be publicized on the Internet and other mass media.

4. Awards: The contest has the following prizes:
• 01 exceptional prize: VND6,000,000
• 01 1st category prize: VND4,000,000
• 05 2nd category prizes: VND3,000,000 each
• 10 3rd category prizes: VND1,500,000 each
• 20 consolation prizes: VND1,000,000 each
• 02 prizes for the 02 winners in many years on end: VND1,000,000 each
• 01 1st collective prize: VND3,000,000
• 02 2nd collective prizes: VND2,000,000 each
The Organizing Committee will announce the contest’s results on the Internet and other mass media. Prize-winners will be notified in September 2010.
The Organizing Committee will invite winners of the exceptional, 1st and 2nd category prizes to visit Hanoi, Vietnam within 07 days. These prize-winners be invited will bear the expenses of international air ticket (both arrival and departure).
The Organizing Committee will provide a financial budget for accommodation, meals and travel in 07 days in Hanoi, Vietnam (in accordance with the rules in force of receiving foreign delegation) and souvenirs for prize-winners as following:
+ Souvenir for 01 exceptional prize: VND1,000,000
+ Souvenir for 01 1st category prize: VND800,000
+ Souvenirs for 05 2nd category prizes: VND500,000 each
The Organizing Committee will send awards and certificates of participation to winners of prizes by post or through foreign embassies or international organizations in Hanoi, in case they couldn’t attend the Awarding Ceremony.
